'New Romantic' was a song that was composed and sung by Laura Marling but although can be heard and seen on YouTube isn't for sale yet or on a released album.
The video for 'New Romantic' is all studio based, and the shot although change frequently are repeated a lot of the time. This video is not a narrative based video and the artist in this case is the only protagonist in this video.
The first shot of the video is a long shot to establish the scene that she's in, it then slowly moves into a close up where we can't see Laura's face as it's covered with a shadow, however just before she starts to sing the shadow moves so we can she her face.
While she sings, certain words and/or phrases appear in shadows on the walls/floor and even on her. This makes the video different to other ones because she wants to give her own unique touch to the video and by doing this that's exactly what she's doing. As a group, we are thinking of putting this into our music video as we feel that it will fit in with our genre very well.
The different of cinematography in this video is really good, we get loads of shots which are all different. For example we get, long shots, close ups, side views, shots of her feet.
These different shots make the video more interesting for the audience, because if it was all shot in one shot the audience would get bored and most probably turn it off after the first minute.

The shots above are shots that you wouldn't expect to see in a normal music video, therefore i feel this breaks the rules of music videos.
Laura Marling is similar to the artist we want to create as she's alternative and different to the artists you see in the charts. Her choice of the simple music video is a really good choice as it is different and makes her stand out.
